Award Winning Law Firm Burges Salmon Appoints
Unified Solutions to develop their new web
site
Leading UK commercial law firm, Burges Salmon, has selected
Unified Solutions to completely redevelop their current corporate
website and improve the way content will be
managed.
With 69 partners and over 600 employees based in Bristol, Burges
Salmon has built a reputation for the quality of its expertise and
its service. They have been quick to realise the potential of
a coherent Internet presence and knowledge management strategy. The
firm's current website was launched in June 2004 but now requires a
substantial upgrade, both in functionality and design.
Janey Abbott, Marketing Manager at Burges Salmon tells us that
"The existing web site could not be adapted to meet the
requirements of a modern site and it was time for a completely new
approach. After an extremely competitive tender process we
chose Unified Solutions. In the face of stiff competition
Unified Solutions were selected due to their understanding and
enthusiasm for the project and their professionalism at all stages
of the process. In addition, their excellent references in
the legal sector convinced us that they where the ideal
choice. We feel confident that the new web site is in safe
hands and we look forward to working with the Unified team."
Unified Solutions has been designing, implementing, managing and
hosting websites since 1995. Based in Slough, and operating across
the whole of the UK and Ireland, Unified Solutions has enjoyed
success by concentrating on designing usable, navigable and
accessible websites based around a content management system.
The company has grown organically over the years and is
consistently recognised as a market leader for the design and
implementation of information management systems. Their
impressive list of customers includes Osborne Clarke, Dundas and
Wilson, The British Museum Company, Surrey County Council and The
Institute of Cancer Research.
For Burges Salmon. Unified Solutions recommended Rhythmyx 6 -
the latest release of Percussion's award-winning enterprise-ready
WCM System. This will provide a robust platform for more
easily managing customer-centric content across multiple sites, and
it has been tailored for organisations that require seamless
support for multiple Web properties combined with easy content
reuse and the production of compelling content.
Janey Abbot explains further: "The primary objective of the
website redesign is to improve the site as a communication tool,
one that will reflect the quality of work and professionalism
expected of a leading commercial law firm to existing and
prospective clients as well as potential new employees. The
navigation of the current site is not particularly intuitive and
information is hard to find. Content can only be managed and
updated by the marketing department which can be a time consuming
task. Although the site will still be managed by the
marketing department, the ease of use will free up our time to
concentrate on other activities."
Tim Chalklen, Managing Director of Unified Solutions said: "The
new site will enable business users throughout Burges Salmon to
create and manage content within a controlled environment, giving
them the flexibility and authority to create and manage content in
line with their specific business requirements. Content will
still ultimately be controlled by Marketing, maintaining
consistency whilst ensuring that business users are enabled to
generate and manage the content they own. "
Unified Solutions are providing design services to ensure that
the website navigation is optimised for the main target audiences,
as well as providing a fresh look which fully complies with
accessibility guidelines. In addition, Unified will be using
their system integration experience to implement a range of
client-facing services which will be accessed via the website.
The new site will enable Burges Salmon to leverage a range of
platforms and infrastructure that can grow and change independently
of its web content management system, by pushing content changes
out to multiple channels without requiring code changes to the
CMS.
Tim Chalklen added: “our work with DLA Piper, Osborne Clarke,
Dundas & Wilson, and now Burges Salmon reaffirms our position
as a significant player in the legal sector. We have a great
deal of experience in CMS, built up over the past 12 years and we
look forward to assisting more legal firms to take control of the
content of their web sites and to maximise their full potential as
an integrated marketing tool."
Customer feedback indicates that Unified are appreciated for
their transparent, open way of working in partnership on projects
and for providing a high level of innovation and continued
support.
