The Children's Society improves internal communications
with Content Managed Intranet from Unified
Solutions
After successfully relaunching The Children's
Society’s website last year, Unified Solutions has been invited by
the charity to develop a full-function intranet, based on
Percussion Rhythmyx 6.5 CMS.
The Children's Society, best known for its
work promoting a good childhood for all children in the UK, is a
leading charity running a network of over 70 community-based
projects. These provide help and support for children who feel
excluded, isolated or abandoned. An important part of the charity’s
internal communications strategy is to develop an intranet that
engages all staff, wherever they are based.
Unified is utilising experience built up
over the past 13 years to deliver The Children's Society a
full-function Intranet, rather than the kind of “no go” area that
Intranets have all too often become. By changing the way
information is managed internally, communication with will be
improved dramatically.
Many of The Children’s Society employees are
based at their London Headquarters but the majority of staff work
in shops, offices and projects throughout the UK. A
custom-built intranet will improve communication with employees
through threaded discussion forums, blogs and social notice boards.
All company information will be disseminated though a secure portal
delivering significant tangible benefits.
This central repository of will reduce the
frustration of not being able to find information and enable
employees to find information more intuitively and quickly, cut
duplication costs and errors from out-of-date or inaccurate
information. Increased productivity will enable employees to
concentrate on the aims of the charity.
Personalisation of content can be set by
individuals and departments. Integration with key organisational
systems will result in dynamic features like the staff directory
that will be automatically updated as people move within the
organisation.
Knowledge resides with people rather than
machines, and tools, such as the customisable contacts Directory,
will assist employees to locate the correct person within the
organisation.
Unified Solutions’ core business is designing
highly intuitive, interactive web sites and implementing
enterprise-level content management systems. Given that Sight
Savers International, Cancer Research UK, Voluntary Services
Overseas, Christian Aid, Charities Aid Foundation and many
other charities are already customers, The Children Society
was confident that Unified provided a “safe pair of hands”
for this important project.
Emma Brooks New Media Manager for The
Children’s Society explains why Unified Solutions are the only
choice:
"We were thrilled to see the website go live
and to have achieved this in the scheduled timescales is something
we can all be proud of. The feedback from the organisation has been
fantastic and once again we'd just like to say how much we
appreciate you guys going the extra mile. The decision to use
Unified Solutions for our future intranet project was made without
a second thought, and we look forward to continued success.’
Tim Chalklen, Managing Director of Unified
Solutions, comments:
‘It has been a delight and pleasure to work
with Emma and the rest of the team at The Children’s Society to
deliver this really excellent website and to see some immediate
results which will, ultimately, benefit the children that The
Children’s Society works tirelessly to support and protect.
A large part of the reason for our joint
success has been the close interaction between members of the team
here at Unified and those at The Children’s Society and the amount
of commitment and effort put in by both sides. We’re all looking
forward to the Intranet project and a long-term relationship’.
For The Children's Society’s website, Unified
Solutions implemented Percussion Rhythmyx 6.5. Using Rhythmyx has
helped drive The Children’s Society’s online communications
strategy by supporting a significant increase in the number of
content publishers and the volume of content. This in turn has
enabled The Children’s Society to enrich the tone of the content,
making it more relevant for its target audiences.
