Immediacy
Overview
Founded in 1996 Immediacy released a precursor to its current content management system in that same year. Ahead of its time, it used an Internet Explorer browser (then at version 3), extensive client side scripting and embedded ActiveX controls to produce a sophisticated browser based web page creation wizard. It also provided sample templates and integrated uploading to a remote server.Version 1 of a broader content management system was released in 1997, with local authorities as the first customers. Typically even in 1997 local government sites ran to hundreds of pages with a requirement for twenty or thirty editors and authors across a number of departments. Over the succeeding six years further releases have seen the development of a rich feature set and enhanced scalability. During this time it has been implemented by companies in the travel, insurance, banking, and construction sectors.
